So I’ve stayed at Apartamentos Guayonje Costa a few times now, and honestly, it’s one of those places that grows on you. The first time I drove up that winding Carretera de Guayonje, I’ll admit I was wondering what I’d gotten myself into – it’s not exactly in the heart of Santa Cruz, but that’s actually turned out to be its biggest charm. You’re tucked away from all the cruise ship chaos and tourist crowds, but still close enough that you can zip into the city center in about fifteen minutes when you want proper restaurants or that amazing Sunday market near the port.

What really sold me on this place is how it feels more like borrowing a friend’s apartment than staying in a hotel. The owners clearly put thought into the setup – I mean, the kitchenettes actually have decent-sized fridges and all the basics you need, not those sad mini-bars that barely fit a yogurt. The apartments themselves are clean and surprisingly spacious, with those big windows that let in all that gorgeous Canarian light. You know what I love? In the morning, you can hear the birds from the nearby hills instead of traffic – well, except when the neighbor’s dog gets excited around 7 AM, but even that’s kind of endearing after a while. The Wi-Fi is solid too, which matters if you’re trying to work remotely or just want to video call home without pixelated faces.

The location is honestly perfect if you’re planning to explore the island properly. You’re positioned really well for day trips – the road connections to Teide National Park and the northern coast are much easier from here than from the southern resort areas. Plus, there’s this little local bar about a five-minute walk down the road where the coffee is ridiculously good and costs about a third of what you’d pay in the hotel zones. The parking situation is straightforward too, which anyone who’s driven in Santa Cruz will tell you is worth its weight in gold. I’ve recommended this place to several friends now, and they all come back saying the same thing – it’s got that 8.8 rating for good reason. It’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but it’s genuine, well-run, and gives you a real taste of living in Tenerife rather than just visiting it. The kind of place where you actually unpack your suitcase instead of living out of it.
