So I stumbled across Apartamento vista roja while looking for something different in Tenerife – you know, away from the tourist chaos but still close enough to actually do stuff. It’s tucked away on Calle Pizarro in La Tejita, which honestly took me a minute to find the first time (the street numbers here are… well, let’s just say GPS gets confused). But once you’re there, you get it. The apartment sits in this quiet residential area where you can actually hear the ocean at night, which is pretty magical if you ask me.

What really struck me about this place – and I mean this in the best way – is how it feels like staying at someone’s actual home rather than a sterile hotel room. The “vista roja” name makes sense when you see the sunset views from the terrace; the light hits the volcanic landscape and everything turns this incredible red-orange color. I spent way too many evenings out there with a glass of wine just watching the sky change colors. The apartment itself is comfortable without being fancy – you’ve got everything you need for a proper stay, including a kitchen that’s actually functional (not one of those token hotel kitchenettes with a broken coffee maker). The bed’s decent, the shower has good pressure, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped.

La Tejita beach is literally a five-minute walk down the hill, and here’s the thing most people don’t realize – it’s one of the few beaches on the south coast where locals actually hang out. You’ll see families having weekend barbecues and kids learning to surf, not just tourists turning lobster-red. The little beach bar there (Bar Chiringuito) does these amazing fish tacos that are honestly better than anything I had in the resort areas. Parking can be tricky during peak season – I learned to just walk down to the beach and leave the car up by the apartment. Oh, and if you’re planning to explore the island, you’re perfectly positioned here. The TF-1 is close but not so close that you hear highway noise, and you can get to Santa Cruz or Los Cristianos without dealing with the worst of the tourist traffic. The owner, Maria, was really helpful with local recommendations too – she pointed me toward this incredible hiking trail up to Montaña Roja that I never would have found otherwise. Fair warning though: the wifi can be spotty when it’s windy (which is often), and don’t expect daily housekeeping – it’s more like a proper apartment rental. But honestly, that 9.1 rating makes perfect sense. For the price and the experience, especially if you want to feel like you’re actually staying in the Canary Islands rather than just visiting them, this place delivers.

  The room had everything we needed and was very clean. They were also able to order us a taxi at 04:30 for our flight the next day which was really nice!
  
  What could be improved: Check in was unclear, we expected there to be a reception where we could check in. However, this was not the case and we had to call. It would have been nice to receive a message beforehand to get the check in instructions.

  L'échange avec la propriétaire était au top, elle m'a même appelée en visio pour m'aider à trouver l'appartement.
  L'espace piscine avait l'air très bien, même si nous ne l'avons pas utilisé car nous sommes partis très tôt.
  L'emplacement est très bien, proche de la mer, d'un supermarché et d'un restaurant. Nous l'avons choisi pour sa proximité avec l'aéroport.
  La décoration était très jolie, la propriétaire nous a même acheté des articles pour notre bébé ! Une très jolie attention.

  Sono stato benissimo. Purtroppo mi sono fermato una sola notte, ma spero di tornare prestissimo. Posizione perfetta, a dieci minuti di taxi dall'aeroporto, a quattro minuti a piedi dal Centro commerciale La Tejita con un supermercato e favolosi caffè e ristoranti, a quattro minuti a piedi dalla sublime spiaggia della Tejita, con l'iconica Montaña Roja, che è visibile dal cortile del complesso residenziale. La pulizia è impeccabile, la disponibilità della proprietaria eccezionale.
