Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of vacation rentals across the Canary Islands, but Apartamento SLAM in Bajamar actually surprised me. When you first pull up to Avenida Gran Poder, it’s not the flashiest street – honestly, it feels more like a real neighborhood than a tourist trap, which I mean in the best way possible. The building itself has that modern Spanish apartment vibe, clean lines and practical design, nothing fancy but everything works exactly as it should.

What really got me was how quiet the place is despite being right in the heart of Bajamar. You know how some rentals promise peace and quiet but then you’re lying awake listening to traffic or late-night revelers? Not here. The apartment faces away from the main coastal road, so you get these lovely morning sounds – birds, maybe some distant waves if you open the windows – instead of constant car noise. The owner clearly knows what they’re doing with the setup too. I mean, whoever designed this space actually uses vacation rentals themselves, you can tell. The kitchen has proper knives (miracle!), the shower has decent water pressure, and there’s enough counter space that you’re not playing tetris with your toiletries.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience Tenerife without feeling like you’re trapped in a resort bubble. Bajamar isn’t one of those picture-perfect tourist towns you see on postcards – it’s where actual Canarians live and work. There’s a lovely natural pool area just a short walk down toward the coast, and the local bars serve proper tapas without the inflated prices you get in places like Los Cristianos. I spent most evenings just wandering the neighborhood, grabbing coffee at the local spots where the baristas actually remember your order by day three. The apartment becomes this perfect home base where you can cook your own meals with ingredients from the morning markets, then head out to explore the more rugged northern coast that most tourists completely skip. Parking was never an issue either – there’s usually space right on the street, and the locals are pretty chill about visitors. I’d definitely come back here, especially during the shoulder seasons when Bajamar feels even more authentic and the weather’s still gorgeous for hiking up toward the Anaga mountains.

  Great location, very close to the seafront and local amenities. Well equipped kitchen for self-catering, also very nice to have a kettle and coffee maker!

  Everything was great. Apartment was super well equipped – cookingware, coffe, washing machine, ironing table, etc. Ideal for living. Apt was also super clean.
