You know what? I’ve stayed in a lot of apartments on Tenerife, and Apartamento Monis Natura genuinely surprised me. It’s tucked away in this residential building right off Paseo de las Américas in Playa San Marcos – honestly, I almost walked past it the first time because it doesn’t scream “vacation rental” from the outside. But that’s actually part of what makes it special. You’re staying where locals live, not in some sterile tourist complex.
The apartment itself is on the sixth floor (apartment 613), and I mean, the views are pretty spectacular once you get up there. From the balcony, you can see straight out to the ocean and down to the black sand beach that Playa San Marcos is known for. The building’s called Edificio Monis, and it’s well-maintained – the elevator works (trust me, you’ll care about this with luggage), and the hallways are clean. Inside, everything feels fresh and thoughtfully put together. The kitchen actually has proper cookware, not those flimsy tourist apartment pans that drive you crazy. I ended up cooking breakfast most mornings because there’s a small Spar supermarket just a few minutes’ walk away, and honestly, having that morning coffee on the balcony watching the waves was better than any hotel restaurant.
What really won me over was the location – you’re in Icod de los Vinos, which means you’re close to some incredible stuff that most tourists miss. The famous dragon tree (Drago Milenario) is literally ten minutes away, and the whole town has this authentic Canarian vibe that’s hard to find in the more touristy spots. Plus, you’re positioned perfectly for exploring the north coast – Garachico with its natural pools is a quick drive, and if you’re into hiking, the trails into the Teide National Park are surprisingly accessible from here. The beach at Playa San Marcos is small but never crowded, and the water’s usually calmer than the southern beaches. Parking can be a bit tricky on the narrow streets around the building, but there’s usually something within a block or two – just don’t expect luxury resort-style valet service. The whole experience feels more like borrowing a friend’s place than staying in a rental, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to actually experience the Canary Islands rather than just passing through.

Fantastic location, check in experience really good with Olga meeting us and showing us the flat and amenities. The view exceptional, Lovely balcony to sit and sip a glass of wine. Close to beach, nice little shop, some restaurants and nice walks, Enough parking . Not too touristy at this time of year, and this is exactly what we prefer. A gem

Wonderful place! Not only the apartment was very clean and cosy, had a nice balcony with beautiful view of a seaside, but besides that, the host was extremely welcoming and remembered about all the little details that made our stay super comfortable – e.g. washing gel for laundry, a bottle of wine and some sweets, blankets on a balcony, all the kitchen accessories, etc. Thank you for everything!

It was a very cozy, comfortable and peaceful studio flat with a lovely balcony to the sea. This balcony was very special, making the flat stand out. When we arrived it was 11 at night, very late but the owner’s friend, Olga, hosted us very kindly. We just loved this place as it was so relaxing.

A nicely furnished studio with the terrace looking out into a small bay. This sea view is what makes this accommodation stand out, but its stylish interior and welcoming host are also essential parts of the equation if you search for a romantic escape headquarters in the north of the island!
What could be improved: Nothing to dislike, but if you don't have a car, you should either consult the local bus schedule or be prepared to walk alongside the road not designed for pedestrians.
