Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about Apartamento Mar y Montaña? It’s actually one of those places where the name isn’t just marketing fluff – you genuinely get both the ocean and mountain views, which is pretty rare to find done well in Los Silos. I mean, most places promise views and you end up squinting at a sliver of blue between buildings, but from the second floor on Avenida Sibora, you’re looking out at the Atlantic stretching toward La Palma on clear days, with the Teno mountains rising behind the town like some dramatic backdrop.

The apartment itself feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a typical hotel – honestly, that’s either going to be your thing or it isn’t. There’s this lived-in comfort to it that I really appreciated after bouncing between sterile chain hotels. The kitchen actually has proper knives and decent pans (travelers who cook know this matters), and the balcony becomes your morning coffee spot where you can watch the fishing boats heading out from the small harbor below. Los Silos isn’t exactly a tourist hotspot, which works in your favor – you’re getting a slice of actual Canarian life here. The locals do their evening paseo along the waterfront around 7 PM, and there’s this great little tapas place, Casa Marcos, just a five-minute walk down toward the plaza that most guidebooks completely miss.

Parking can be a bit of a puzzle on Avenida Sibora – the street’s narrow and fills up quickly, especially during the weekend market days. I ended up using the small lot near the church most of the time, which is maybe a two-minute walk back to the building. The 8.5 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re getting for the price point; it’s not luxury by any stretch, but everything works, it’s clean, and the location gives you easy access to both the coastal path toward Garachico and the mountain trails heading up into the Teno Rural Park. The shower pressure is actually decent (another thing you don’t realize you miss until you don’t have it), and the Wi-Fi held up fine for video calls back home. I’d definitely come back, especially if I was planning to explore the northwestern part of Tenerife – you’re perfectly positioned to hit places like Masca or the Punta de Teno lighthouse without dealing with the crowds and prices you’d face staying closer to the resort areas.

  The apartment is in a small village. The area is very quiet surrounded by mountains and the ocean. The natural pools are in 5 min walk.

  What could be improved: Cleanliness is not the best. I asked Ann-Marie about washing powder (coz after trip we have stuff and towels to clean) and her helper leaved it for us, but washing machine was soo dirty(( And i think will be great to leave some stuff as olive oil.. coz kitchen is well equipped but you need to buy all for prepare. But maybe depends previous guests. It will be great + to update this, coz i want to stay here again <3 One bedroom (single bed) without window, just in case, if for someone its important.

  The quality and size of the apartment, versus price ratio, was excellent. Loved the sound of the sea and the privacy of the place. Spacious, and comfortable – enhanced by the lovely sofa and Netflix in the evening! Host communication was quick and effective. Bonus of a washing machine, airer on the balcony, and a well equipped supply of utensils, plates, pans, oven, etc in the kitchen. Annemarie seems to have thought of everything – what a lovely place in a lovely part of the island.

  We loved the sound of the sea that was present all the time. Los Silos is a calm town, however you can find cute local restaurants/bars 10-15min walk from the apartment. If you don't mind the waves, you can swim at the beach infront of the house.
  The kitchen is well equipped.
  We have enjoyed having apperitivo on the balcony with the beautiful view.
  The shower is very spacious! The apartment was clean.
  We have gotten and returned the keys without meeting Annemarie, what made our time planning easy.
  
  What could be improved: The apartment has two single beds that are not the best option if you are a couple.
  We are not sure if this is an one time event, but our bedsheets and towels had an unpleasant smell of humidity.
