The apartment itself is this charming 1-A unit that feels like you’re staying in someone’s carefully curated home – not sterile like a hotel, but not messy like a typical Airbnb either. The 9.3 rating makes total sense once you settle in, because while it’s technically a 3-star place, whoever runs this clearly cares about the details that actually matter.

What really gets me is the location – and I don’t mean that in the generic “convenient location” way that every hotel claims. Calle La Higuera puts you right in the heart of where La Laguna residents actually live and work, which means you’re a genuine five-minute walk from the university area (you’ll hear students chatting as they pass by, especially during term time), and you can easily wander over to the main plaza without dealing with the crowds that swarm the more obvious tourist streets. The building has that typical Canarian charm – thick walls that keep things cool during the day and surprisingly quiet at night, though you will hear the occasional dog barking from nearby courtyards, which honestly just adds to the authentic neighborhood feel. I found myself actually looking forward to the morning routine of walking to the local café a block over where the owner remembers your coffee order by day three – that’s the kind of experience you just can’t manufacture in a big hotel.

The practical stuff matters too, and this is where Apartamento La Higuera really delivers without making a big deal about it. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no waiting around in lobbies or dealing with complicated key card systems.
