You know what really caught me off guard about Elenita’s place? The moment I walked up to Avenida de Suecia número 3, I realized I’d hit the jackpot for location without even knowing it. I mean, Los Cristianos can be tricky – some spots are right in the thick of tourist chaos, others feel like you’re miles from anything interesting. But this little apartment sits in that sweet spot where you’re actually close enough to walk to the beach in about three minutes, yet far enough from the main strip that you’re not dealing with drunk British tourists singing at 2 AM.
The apartment itself is honestly bigger than I expected – two proper bedrooms that can easily handle four people without anyone feeling cramped. What I really appreciated was how Elena (the owner, I assume that’s where “Elenita” comes from) clearly knows what travelers actually need. There’s proper counter space in the kitchen, enough outlets for everyone’s devices, and – this might sound silly but trust me on this – decent water pressure in the shower. You’d be amazed how many places in the Canaries skimp on that. The whole place has this lived-in but well-maintained feel, like someone’s favorite aunt decorated it with actual thought rather than just grabbing whatever was cheapest at the furniture store.
What really makes this place work is the neighborhood vibe. Avenida de Suecia runs parallel to the coast, so you’re getting that ocean breeze without the constant foot traffic of the beachfront promenade. There’s a little Spar grocery store literally around the corner – perfect for grabbing breakfast stuff or a bottle of wine without trekking to one of the big tourist traps. And honestly, the walk down to Playa de Los Cristianos is kind of perfect for working off those massive Spanish dinners. The building itself is quiet (at least when I stayed in March), though I’d imagine things might get livelier during peak summer months when every apartment complex in southern Tenerife turns into a mini party zone.
Look, I’ve stayed in my share of vacation rentals, and there’s always something – the WiFi cuts out, the neighbors are impossible, or the place looks nothing like the photos. But Elenita’s apartment just… works. It’s got that 9.3 rating for a reason. The kind of place where you actually unpack your suitcase instead of living out of it for a week, you know? Plus, being in Los Cristianos means you’re perfectly positioned for day trips – the ferry to La Gomera leaves right from the harbor, and you can catch buses to pretty much anywhere on the island from the main terminal. I’d definitely book this again, especially if I was traveling with friends who wanted their own space but didn’t want to blow the budget on some fancy resort where you’re paying extra for amenities you’ll never use.
