So I stayed at this apartment in El Médano – honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the name “Estrella del Mar” because, you know, sometimes these places oversell themselves. But this one actually lives up to it. The building sits right on Avenida José Miguel Galván Bello, which sounds fancy but it’s really just the main drag that runs parallel to the beach. What’s great about apartment 32 specifically is that you’re high enough up to catch ocean breezes but not so high that hauling groceries becomes a workout.

El Médano itself is this laid-back surf town that most tourists skip over on their way to the bigger resorts, which honestly works in your favor. The locals here are genuinely friendly – not that forced tourist-friendly vibe you get elsewhere. There’s this little bakery about two blocks down where they make these incredible pastries that’ll ruin your diet, and the fish market nearby means you can actually cook decent seafood if you’re into that. The beach is literally a five-minute walk, and it’s not one of those perfect postcard beaches – it’s got character, with black volcanic sand and enough wind to keep the windsurfers happy. Sometimes it gets a bit breezy (I mean, it’s the Canary Islands), but that also means it never gets stupidly hot like some places.

The apartment itself is pretty well set up – you can tell someone actually thought about how people live, not just how to cram in furniture. The kitchen has real cooking stuff, not those useless tiny pots you usually find in vacation rentals. Parking can be a bit tricky during peak season, but there’s usually something within a block or two. The building’s fairly quiet, though you might hear some street noise in the early morning when the delivery trucks come through – nothing terrible, just real life happening. What really sold me on this place was sitting on the balcony with morning coffee, watching the windsurfers get ready for the day while the town slowly wakes up. It’s got that authentic feel that’s getting harder to find these days, where you’re staying somewhere people actually live rather than just another tourist bubble.

  Perfect location near to beaches, shops, restaurants and bars. Lovely pool to swim in every day. Maria was a perfect hostess and was warm and welcoming. The washing machine so we were able to catch up on our laundry before heading home.
  
  What could be improved: Nothing really, it was perfect for what we needed. Only suggestion would be to change toilet as it was not working properly and the strip light in the kitchen.

  Appartment at good location in El Medano . It seems to be from the 90ies but price was fair so price/value relation was correct in my POV. Appartment was clean and well equiped. Owner ws friendly and reactive.
