You know what struck me first about this place? The name isn’t lying – this really is a design apartment, and that terrace… honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from the photos, but when you step out there, it’s pretty spectacular. The views stretch across San Miguel de Abona, and if you time it right around sunset, you’ll understand why I ended up spending most evenings out there with a glass of wine.

The apartment sits on Avenida J.M. Galvan Bello, which – I’ll be honest – sounds more impressive than it looks from street level. But here’s the thing about San Miguel: it’s not trying to be flashy like some of the coastal spots. It’s got this authentic Canarian vibe that actually makes you feel like you’re staying somewhere real, not just another tourist bubble. The design inside is pretty sleek, sort of minimalist but warm, if that makes sense. Everything feels intentional, from the lighting to the way the kitchen flows into the living space. I mean, you can tell someone actually thought about how people would live here, not just snap Instagram photos.

What I really appreciated – and this might sound small, but trust me, it matters – is how quiet it gets at night. San Miguel isn’t exactly a party town, which works perfectly if you’re looking to decompress. The 8.2 rating feels about right; it’s not perfect (the shower pressure could be better, and parking can be a bit tricky during local festival times), but it delivers on what it promises. The terrace alone probably bumps it up a full point. I actually found myself working out there in the mornings, which is not something I usually do on vacation, but the space just invites it. Plus, you’re close enough to the airport that transfers are painless, but far enough that you won’t hear planes. And honestly? The local restaurants nearby are fantastic – there’s this little place about five minutes walk that does the best papas arrugadas I had on the entire island. The whole experience feels more like staying at a friend’s really well-designed place than a typical rental, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to get a real feel for Tenerife beyond the resort scene.

  The terrace is nice and spacious and the pool is also very good.
  
  What could be improved: The reception is open only a few hours per day and it is not easy to communicate with the staff. It took us some days to find the wifi password – it was written in a cover of a leaflet. The staff didn't know where to find it. The terrace is facing north-west and not very sunny during winter. The bed is quite small and the coffee machine would be nice.

  The apartment itself was nice and clean, the terrace was big and perfect for relaxing. The only disadvantage is the fact that the airport is really close, so sometimes it was very noisy (fortunately not at night).

  Our flight was delayed meaning that we arrived very late in the eveni g. The reception staff rang me to arrange access to the aparent via a key safe. The apartment was very attractive and seemingly well equipped.
  
  What could be improved: However, on closer inspection, the spare pillows did not have covers on them, and they were stained. The blankets provided for colder nights were also stained. The oven/ microwave was difficult to use and no instructions were provided. The TV in the bedroom did not work.
  Our first full day was spent off site visiting family. On the second day we ventured to use the swimming pool. Unfortunately, the key fob provided for access to the pool area did not work. The reception was closed until 3.30 pm each day, so I contacted the property via a message . They advised us to go to reception.. ..it was closed! We eventually saw someone at reception later that day (Saturday), only to be informed that the lady who gives the key fobs would be back on Monday, as we were flying home on Monday, this meant we were unable to use the pool at all during our stay. Ironically, on the Sunday afternoon, we received a call from the reception asking if we would like to pick up a replacement key fob, we were on a bus at the time, having spent the day at beach resort in the region. Has we had a key fob we could have spent the day at the pool!!. We complained regarding all of the above but received a shrug of the shoulders. I complained via booking.com but never received a reply from the property just an automated acknowledgement from Booking.com. All in all, very disappointing. I find it worrying that a complex this big did not have the reception manned other than between 3.30 and 7.30pm each day, I dread to think what would have happened had the main gate and or apartment keys failed outside reception hours!!

  Really lovely place, the staff was amazing and has been very helpful on everything i needed during my stay, Edgar especially was always available even during reception closed hours, so very much appreciated. The pool was really nice and warm and a perfect place near the airport so you could see planes fly very close all day.
  I’ll definitely be back on summer time but December was nice too.

  Nincs mosogatógép, de még edénycsöpögtető sem (olyan tábori az érzés).
  A mosogatónál a csapból alig folyik a víz.
  Nincs mosogatószivacs (magunknak vettünk)
  Nincs konyharuha, papírtörlő (sebaj vettünk)
  Az ágy kb 140 cm széles
  A zuhanykabin szétesik
  Vízköves minden csap, különösen a zuhany.
