You know what struck me first about this place? The location is absolutely perfect – and I mean that in the most practical way possible. Calle Dr. Antonio González might not ring a bell if you’re not familiar with La Laguna, but honestly, it’s one of those quiet residential streets where locals actually live, not just the touristy strips. I walked everywhere from here, and I mean everywhere. The historic center with all those colorful colonial buildings is literally a five-minute stroll, but here’s the thing – you’re far enough from the main plaza that you don’t get the weekend party noise that can keep you up if you’re staying right in the thick of things.

The apartment itself feels like someone’s actual home, not some sterile hotel room. There’s this lived-in comfort that you don’t always find in rentals – proper coffee cups instead of those tiny hotel ones, a kitchen that’s actually equipped for cooking (I made breakfast most mornings), and the kind of lighting that doesn’t make you look like you’re in a hospital. The Wi-Fi is solid, which matters if you’re working remotely, and the shower has proper water pressure. I know that sounds mundane, but after a day of hiking around Anaga or exploring the university district, it’s exactly what you want. The whole setup feels very Spanish apartment living – tiled floors that stay cool, windows that actually open wide, and that particular way Spanish homes just feel more connected to the street life outside.

What really sold me on this place, though, was how it sits in the neighborhood. La Laguna isn’t Tenerife’s beach scene – it’s the cultural heart of the island, and staying here you get that immediately. There’s a little café about two blocks down where I’d grab my morning cortado, and the woman behind the counter started recognizing me by day three. The university students give the area this energetic buzz during the week, but it mellows out perfectly on weekends. You’re close enough to catch the tram down to Santa Cruz if you want the bigger city energy, but honestly, I found myself just wandering La Laguna’s streets most evenings. The 9.1 rating makes total sense – it’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but it’s exactly what you want when you’re trying to actually experience a place rather than just pass through it. Plus, and this is key if you’re renting a car, parking around here is manageable, which is more than I can say for most places in the historic center.

  Nice and spacious apartment just a few minutes walk from the old town. Very functional, well equipped and spotless clean. We stayed just one night but I think it could be a good option even for mid-term stays if anyone had a reason to stay in La Laguna for longer.
