Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of places around the Canary Islands, but Apartamento Adela in Araya honestly surprised me. You know how sometimes you book a place and cross your fingers it’ll be decent? Well, this wasn’t one of those times. Right on Rambla de los Menceyes – which sounds fancy but it’s actually just this lovely tree-lined street that locals use for their evening walks – the apartment sits in one of those neighborhoods where you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something real instead of touristy.

The thing about Araya is that most people just drive through it on their way to the coast, but staying here? It’s actually brilliant. You’re maybe ten minutes from the beach towns, but without the crowds and inflated prices. The apartment itself feels like someone’s grandmother decorated it with actual care – I mean that in the best way possible. Everything works (shocking, I know), the beds are comfortable, and there’s this little balcony where you can have your morning coffee while watching the neighbors head off to work. The host, well, they clearly give a damn about the place. Check-in was smooth, they left local recommendations that weren’t just the usual tourist traps, and when I had a question about the washing machine, they actually answered their phone.

Here’s what I really appreciated – the neighborhood has this authentic Spanish rhythm to it. There’s a small market around the corner where you can grab fresh bread and local cheese, and honestly, the prices made me want to cry happy tears after paying tourist rates elsewhere. Parking isn’t a nightmare like in some places, though you might have to walk a block or two during busy times. The only minor thing – and this is really minor – is that if you’re expecting pool access or some fancy lobby, this isn’t that kind of place. But that 9.6 rating? Yeah, I get it. It’s the kind of spot where everything just works quietly in the background, letting you actually relax instead of dealing with constant little annoyances. If you want to experience a bit of real Canarian life while still having easy access to beaches and hiking, this is your spot.

  The shower is the only thing it seems to be fitted wrong it did not sit proper. But overall an amazing stay felt like home

  The apartment has everything for a couple to stay very comfortably. It is spacious and also cosy, everything is very well organised. The host really thought of her guests in details when the things are organised in the apartment. The location is very convenient, well placed if you want to explore the north of Tenerife. There are plenty of car parking space nearby.
  
  What could be improved: We had trouble to get into the apartment on arrival due to an error from the host. She tried to ratify the issue but it took us almost one hour to get into it.

  We really enjoyed our stay in this apartment. Everything was very clean and tidy, the owner was very nice and ready to help with any question at any time. The location is very convenient, 3 minutes to the beach and several supermarkets and restaurants nearby.

  El apartamento está fenomenal. Todo lo necesario lo tienes y además están muy pendientes que todo este bien, para entrar, muy accesible.
  La urbanización donde esta también está fenomenal y el apartamento es muy cómodo y además es muy bonito. Nosotros fuimos varios días y muy contentos.

  Die Unterkunft ist mit viel Liebe eingerichtet und war sehr sauber. Für unsere 1 jährigen Tochter war alles vorhanden, was wir benötigt haben (Hochstuhl, Kinderbett, extra Handtücher und Decke).
  Es wurden sogar die Handtücher und die Bettwäsche getauscht. Die Kommunikation mit der Vermieterin ist gut und problemlos.
