Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to this apartment on Avenida Venezuela, I wasn’t expecting much. San José de los Llanos isn’t exactly on the typical tourist trail, and that’s actually part of what makes this place interesting. It’s one of those proper Spanish towns where you hear more Spanish than English, and locals still do that evening paseo thing where everyone walks around the plaza after dinner.

The apartment itself is pretty straightforward – clean, functional, nothing fancy but nothing that’ll make you cringe either. What struck me was how quiet it gets at night, which honestly surprised me since it’s right on one of the main streets. I mean, this isn’t Madrid or Barcelona where there’s constant traffic, but still. The owner clearly knows what they’re doing with the basics – decent shower pressure (always a gamble in older Spanish buildings), reliable WiFi, and a kitchen that actually has the stuff you need if you want to cook. The bed was comfortable enough, though I’m not picky about that sort of thing.

What really sold me on this place was the location for exploring this part of Tenerife. San José de los Llanos sits in this interesting spot where you’re not dealing with tourist crowds, but you’re still close enough to get to the more popular areas when you want to. The local bar downstairs – and there’s always a local bar, isn’t there? – serves surprisingly good bocadillos, and the woman who runs it remembered my coffee order by day three, which is the kind of thing that makes a place feel right. Parking was easy, which anyone who’s driven around the Canary Islands will tell you isn’t always a given.

You know what I appreciated most? The owner actually lives locally and knows the area. When I asked about hiking trails, she didn’t just point me toward the obvious tourist spots but mentioned this little path that leads up through the pine forests where you barely see another soul. It’s those kinds of insider tips that make the difference between a generic stay and actually experiencing a place. The apartment gets a solid 7.7 rating, and I’d say that’s about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it does what it promises without any nasty surprises. If you’re the type who’d rather spend your money on experiences than fancy hotel amenities, and you want to see what actual Canarian life looks like beyond the resort areas, this works really well.

  Great value. Not the most impressive facilities, but all the basics are there! Comfy enough bed, warm shower and tea and coffee making facilities. A short walk from the property you have possibly the best view of Teide on the whole island!

  Les hôtes sont très gentils, disponible rapidement pour répondre à toute question et la dame parle français. Le logement est très propre, avec climatisation et assez récent.
