You know what? I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Amarilla Golf Residences – I mean, the name sounds pretty standard for this part of Tenerife. But honestly, this place surprised me in the best way possible. It’s tucked away on Avenida María Ángeles Ascanio Cullen in San Miguel de Abona, which is actually perfect because you’re away from the tourist chaos of Los Cristianos but still close enough to hit the beach when you want to. The residences sit right alongside the Amarilla Golf Course (hence the name), and I’ve got to say, waking up to those perfectly manicured greens with the Atlantic stretching out beyond them – it’s pretty spectacular.

What really gets me about this place is how they’ve managed to feel luxurious without being stuffy. The apartments are spacious – I’m talking proper living spaces, not those cramped hotel rooms where you’re tripping over your suitcase. The kitchens are actually functional too, which matters when you want to grab some of those incredible tomatoes from the local market and make a proper meal. The terraces are where you’ll spend most of your time though, especially in the evening when the light hits just right and you can see La Gomera floating on the horizon. Parking’s a breeze here too – none of that circling around for twenty minutes like you get in the busier resorts.

The pool area is where this place really shines, and I mean that literally – the way the Canarian sun reflects off the water in the morning is something else. It’s never too crowded, even during peak season, probably because the place attracts more of the longer-stay crowd rather than the party-weekend types. The staff actually remember your name after a day or two, which is refreshing. Location-wise, you’re about fifteen minutes from the airport (super convenient for those early flights), and the coastal path that runs along Playa de la Tejita is just a short drive away – honestly one of the most underrated beaches on the island. The nearby village of San Miguel has this lovely authentic feel that hasn’t been completely overtaken by tourism yet, and there’s this little bakery about ten minutes’ walk away where the locals go for their morning coffee. If you’re looking for a base to explore the south of the island without dealing with the crowds and noise of the main resort areas, this is it.

  Very friendly and helpful staff, especially Luca. The hotel is relatively new, modernly decorated, well equipped and very clean. The restaurant is a bit expensive, but it's good. The gym is new and good.

  Our experience at this complex was absolutely fantastic! The apartments are brand new, equipped with everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay. Everything is spotless, as both the rooms and the entire complex are cleaned daily.
  
  The on-site restaurant offers delicious food at a great price-quality ratio, making dining a pleasure.
  
  This place is ideal for those renting a car, as having one is essential for exploring the island. However, a great bonus is that the complex provides free charging stations for hybrid and electric vehicles.
  
  Last but not least, the staff is simply amazing—friendly, professional, and always ready to help. They truly make the experience even better!
