Look, I’ll be honest – I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Amaba TENERIFE on Calle Cruz Verde. La Guancha isn’t exactly where most tourists end up, which is actually part of what makes this place so brilliant. It’s tucked away in this quiet residential street where you can actually hear the ocean at night instead of drunk British tourists singing karaoke (not that there’s anything wrong with that, but you know what I mean).

The thing about this hotel is that it feels like someone’s really well-off aunt decided to open her home to travelers. The staff – honestly, they remember your name after day one, and not in that forced hospitality way. More like genuine warmth that catches you off guard. I mean, the owner actually sat down with me over coffee one morning and explained why La Guancha has the best banana plantations on the island. You don’t get that at your typical four-star chain. The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully designed – not Instagram-perfect minimalism, but comfortable in a way that makes you want to actually spend time there rather than just crash. The beds are proper firm (thank god), and they’ve got these little balconies where you can sit with morning coffee and watch the locals heading to work. There’s something deeply satisfying about that routine when you’re on holiday.

What really sets this place apart is its location – and I don’t mean “convenient to everything” because honestly, it’s not. You’ll need a car or you’ll be doing a lot of walking to get to the main tourist bits. But that’s the point, isn’t it? You’re a ten-minute drive from some of the most stunning coastal views on Tenerife, without the crowds. The local restaurants in La Guancha are the real deal – family-run places where the menu changes based on what came in that morning. The hotel folks will point you toward the good spots, and trust me, they know their stuff. Parking is actually decent here (rare for this part of the island), and the whole area goes blissfully quiet after 9 PM. If you’re looking for that authentic Canarian experience without completely roughing it, this is your spot. Just don’t expect a massive pool or a spa – this isn’t that kind of place. It’s better.

  The host was super friendly and helpful. The apartment nice, clean and very well equipped! There was even fruits, chocolate, coffee and wine when we arrived. Nice views to the sea and the Teide.
  
  What could be improved: A car is needed to flexibly leave the village and it was hard to dry towels and swimming clothes in the apartment.

  Todo impecable. El apartamento es amplio, bonito, y el propietario cuida hasta el mínimo detalle. Equipado con todo, pero ademas te deja vino, fruta, café, azucar, agua e incluso unas galletas. Espectacular!! La ubicación es buena. Fácil para desplazarte. El precio es muy bueno por todo lo que te dan. Fuimos de casualidad y ha sido una sorpresa muy agradable. Lo recomiendo 100%!!
