You know what surprised me about AluaSoul Orotava Valley? It’s tucked away in this residential area called Urbanización Turquesa that honestly feels more like a local neighborhood than a tourist zone – which is exactly why it works so well. I mean, you’re still in Puerto de la Cruz, but you’re not dealing with the crowds stumbling around the main drag at 2 AM. The adults-only thing isn’t just a marketing gimmick here; it actually creates this genuinely relaxed vibe where people are reading books by the pool instead of blasting music.

The location is kind of genius when you think about it. You’re close enough to walk into town (maybe 15 minutes if you don’t mind the slight uphill trek back), but far enough that you get these incredible views of the Orotava Valley that most visitors never see. I spent way too much time on my balcony just watching the light change on those volcanic ridges – it’s the kind of view that makes you understand why people fall in love with Tenerife beyond just the beaches. The staff actually knows the area too, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how rare that is. They pointed me toward this little family-run restaurant about ten minutes away that I never would have found otherwise, and it ended up being one of my favorite meals of the trip.

What really sets this place apart is how it feels lived-in rather than sterile. The design has this modern but warm thing going on – lots of natural materials and earth tones that actually complement the volcanic landscape instead of fighting against it. The pool area gets busy during the day (especially when the weather’s iffy elsewhere on the island), but there’s always somewhere quiet to settle in. I loved that they have these little nooks and terraces scattered around where you can actually have a conversation without shouting. The 8.5 rating makes sense – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place on the island, but everything they do, they do well. Check-in was smooth, the rooms are thoughtfully designed with good storage (thank you for understanding that people actually unpack), and the housekeeping team clearly takes pride in their work. If you’re looking for a base that feels more like a retreat than a resort, and you want to experience Puerto de la Cruz without being right in the thick of things, this is your spot.

  We had a wonderful, relaxing stay in general. The hotel is better than on the photos, our room was clean, modern, with a beautiful view and functioning amenities. The majority of the people working there were kind and super helpful. Loved the pool, the tanning area and evening entertainment (especially Spanish class). Good, fresh and varied food at the buffet. Great location as it’s both a quiet, picturesque spot and within walking distance to all nearby attractions.
