You know what caught me off guard about Tio Claudio Beach? It’s right there on Picacho street – which, if you’ve been to El Médano before, you’ll know puts you basically in the thick of everything without the chaos. I mean, this isn’t some flashy resort trying to impress you with marble lobbies, but honestly, that’s exactly why it works. The moment you walk in, there’s this relaxed vibe that just makes sense for a beach town that’s more about windsurfing than five-star dining.

The rooms are what I’d call “pleasantly surprising” for a three-star place. Nothing fancy, but they’ve clearly put thought into the details that actually matter – decent water pressure (trust me, after a day getting sandblasted on Playa de El Médano, you want a proper shower), and the beds are actually comfortable, not those rock-hard mattresses you sometimes get in smaller Spanish hotels. The real winner though is how close you are to the beach action. Step outside and you’re maybe two minutes from watching the kitesurfers doing their thing, or you can grab a cortado at one of those little cafés that locals actually use – not just tourist traps. I stayed here during shoulder season and could hear the wind picking up in the mornings, which the windsurfing crowd absolutely loves, but it never felt too intense from inside the hotel.

Here’s the thing about El Médano that a lot of people don’t realize until they’re here – it’s got this authentic Canarian feel that places like Playa de las Américas have completely lost. Tio Claudio Beach sits right in that sweet spot where you can walk to the red mountain (Montaña Roja, locals call it) for sunset views, but you’re also close enough to the newer part of town if you want more restaurant options. The 8.5 rating makes total sense once you factor in the price point – this isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and that honesty is refreshing. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle during peak season, but the staff actually knows the area well enough to point you toward the less obvious spots. I’d definitely come back, especially if I was planning to spend serious time on the water or just wanted to experience this corner of Tenerife without the resort bubble.

  Super fast WiFi. Amazon Prime on TV. Very clean. Well equipped kitchen. Best possible location. Friendly, reactive staff. Best for solo traveller or couple with or without small child. Just to note you'll need additional key to access utility space with washing machine, ask for that in advance if you plan on using washing machine during stay.
  
  What could be improved: One night there was an exceptionally strong wind. A neighbour had left their door to the utility space on the upper balcony unclosed and it kept banging until at 3am I went up to shut it myself.

  The best part is the responsiveness and kindness of the host. Then as an accommodation for practical purposes it's ideal. We only booked one night as a layover before we could pick up the rented car which was literally downstairs (BeCars, very good btw). Clean, silent, very accessible, spacious, practical – but at least for our taste it wouldn't be fit for a long holiday stay. Could be very fit for a kite surfing holiday where you only want a clean spot to crash at night – because it's right next to the local kite beach and it's got a big enough living room for a rolled kite or two. A couple of busy terraces at the ground floor also come in very handy in the morning.

  Great location, close to everything. I didn't use the kitchen but it looked well equipped. No private outside space but there are roof terraces you can use but no seats/sunbeds.

  Excellent location. Luckily the bedroom faces internally so it’s quiet at night and to sleep. The living room faces the street and being so central, it gets noisy at night time (but it’s normal…)
  
  What could be improved: In the flat there is only soap to wash hands dishes. Nothing else is present (oil, sugar, shampoo, etc.). Definitely a minimum is required, as it is a flat.

  The accommodation is very close to the beach in Medano, practically a 1-minute walk from the accommodation. the staff was very kind and nice, they helped me as many times as I needed. The apartment is quite large and clean.When you get out of the building right in front you have a bar where the food is very good and the prices are super decent. Considering the price paid for accommodation, it is worth all the money, excellent price-quality. I recommend!!!
  
  What could be improved: Unfortunately the furniture is quite old, it can be modernized from this point of view. it has a retro air but it didn't bother me.

  Location very central therefore ideal for me. shops and restaurants on doorstep. Beach a few metres away.
