It’s tucked away on Calle Neptuno in a way that feels completely residential – I mean, you’re literally staying in what feels like a local’s apartment building rather than some touristy hotel complex. The MARTIMAR building itself is pretty typical for this part of Candelaria, but honestly, that’s exactly what makes it special. You get this authentic Canarian neighborhood vibe that most visitors completely miss.
The apartment itself is exactly what “acogedora” promises – it’s genuinely cozy in that lived-in way that makes you want to actually relax instead of just passing through. The owners clearly know their stuff because everything you’d actually need is there, from proper kitchen equipment (not those sad hotel kitchenettes) to decent Wi-Fi that doesn’t cut out every five minutes. I spent a good chunk of my mornings on the balcony with coffee, watching the neighborhood wake up – there’s something pretty wonderful about seeing actual daily life instead of just other tourists. The building’s quiet too, which surprised me given how close you are to everything.
Location-wise, you’re about a ten-minute walk from the Basilica of Candelaria, which is obviously the main draw, but what I really appreciated was being close enough to walk to the black sand beaches without dealing with the parking nightmare that happens during peak season. The local buses run regularly from nearby stops, and if you’re planning day trips around Tenerife – which you absolutely should – you’ve got easy access without being stuck in the thick of tourist central. Plus, there’s this little bakery about two blocks away that does incredible pastries for breakfast… I probably went there way too often. The whole setup just works, you know? It’s comfortable enough that you’ll actually want to spend time there, but positioned perfectly for exploring the area without feeling like you’re missing out on the real Candelaria experience.
