So I stumbled across 1 Cabaña Ecologica while wandering through La Orotava’s old quarter, and honestly, I wasn’t expecting much from the name – I mean, “ecological cabin” sounds like it could go either way, right? But this place actually surprised me. It’s tucked away on Calle Familia Iriarte, which is one of those narrow cobblestone streets that feels properly Spanish without being touristy. The building itself has this rustic charm that doesn’t feel forced – you know how some places try too hard to be “authentic”? This isn’t that. The stone walls and wooden beams seem genuinely old, and there’s this earthy smell when you walk in that’s part wood polish, part mountain air drifting down from Teide.

What really got me was how quiet it stays, even though you’re literally a five-minute walk from Plaza de la Constitución where all the action is. The owners clearly know what they’re doing – they’ve managed to create this peaceful bubble while keeping you close enough to grab morning coffee at that little place on Calle Carrera (the one with the amazing cortados that locals queue up for). The rooms have this solid, comfortable feel, nothing flashy but everything works properly. I appreciated the thick walls – you can’t hear your neighbors, which is rare in these old buildings. The eco-friendly touches don’t feel gimmicky either; it’s more like they’ve just made sensible choices about energy and water without making a big deal about it.

The 8.4 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed here. It’s not perfect – the shower pressure could be stronger, and the WiFi gets a bit spotty in the evenings when everyone’s streaming – but it hits that sweet spot of being genuinely comfortable without charging resort prices. The staff actually live in the area, so they’ll point you toward the hiking trails that locals use rather than the overcrowded tourist routes. During my stay, they mentioned that spring and early fall are ideal because you get the best weather without the summer crowds that pack the Orotava Valley. Plus, there’s usually street parking available on the neighboring streets if you’re driving (though honestly, you won’t need a car much once you’re settled in). It’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay by a day or two because it just feels right – comfortable, authentic, and perfectly positioned to explore this gorgeous part of Tenerife without feeling like you’re staying in a tourist trap.

  What could be improved: il est annoncé que le logement comporte une kitchenette, un complément de vaisselle serait judicieux (saladier par exemple). Nécessité d'une petite table de nuit avec un éclairage
  l'annonce ne mentionne pas qu'il y a 4 logements et que la cabane objet de la location est séparée en 2 logements. Nous n'en avons pas souffert car nous avons été les seuls la plupart du temps

  Finca muy agradable con zonas ajardinadas y vistas muy bonitas desde la piscina.
  Se encuentra a 10 minutos andando desde el centro de la Orotava. En una zona residencial tranquila.
  La habitación un poco pequeña pero tiene lo básico que necesitas.

  Super accueil d'Andreas et Janet. Les studios, confortables et très propres sont situés dans un quartier tres calme. L'endroit est très paisible et reposant avec un jardin et une piscine bien agréables. Possibilité de barbecue, sauna, massages et equipements de sport.

  Sehr schöne private Anlage super gepflegt. Sauna Dampfbad gegen Gebühr schöner Pool, alles sehr nah im Garten verfügbar. Die Besitzer wohnen vor Ort und helfen bei allen Fragen. Sehr freundliches deutsches Paar. Etwa 20 Minuten zu Fuß ins Zentrum. Taxi möglich

  Zahrada byla krásná. V okolí ubytování je klid a z terasy u bazénu krásný výhled na Tiede. Byli jsme zde na Vánoce a byl zde hezký výhled na ohňostroje. Majitelé byli velmi milí. K dispozici připlatit si masáž nebo welness. – ceny né příliš příznivé.
  
  What could be improved: Ubytování je v bezprostřední blízkosti ubytování majitelů. Téměř s nimi sdílíte terasu. Zároveň sdílíte velmi tenkou zeď s dalším apartmánem. Televize a jakýkoli rozhovor z vedlejšího pokoje je slyšet. Dispozicí ubytování bazénu a domu majitelů, jsem se necítila, že máme soukromí. Bazén využívala v ranních hodinách majitelka, pouštěla zde hlasitou hudbu a plavala zde nahá. (:
